Safety Tip – Hunters in the Thick Stuff

Safety Tip – Hunters in the Thick Stuff

If you’re walking through very thick bush, one that is so thick that you wouldn’t be able to see far enough to shoot anyway, unload your rifle. Especially in the thick stuff, there’s too much chance of falling, so unload your rifle and reload only when you are out of the jungle and back to a place where you might actually intentionally fire your gun at something.

The same rule applies to any time in hunting when you have a loaded rifle, but you know you won’t - or even can’t - shoot anyway. Why have your gun loaded when you KNOW you won’t be shooting? If you’re climbing a fence, walking through a tight spot or in a swamp when you can’t see more than twenty feet… unload your rifle.
