Wouldn’t you just love to have a career working in the outdoors tourism industry? Do you have what it takes to be a certified hunting and fishing guide? It’s a great way to spend your time and you can make a very good living at it!
Guide Pro Training and Consulting is a registered business owned and operated by… you guessed it - RD, “The Rugged Dude!”
Since RD began taping episodes of his show back in 2000, he has traveled across Canada and throughout many regions of the United States. Most of the television episodes were produced at lodges or outpost camps so as they say, RD has “been there - done that."
After working with hundreds of guides across Canada and the US and having been to somewhere around 150 locations, RD has seen a wide spectrum of quality and knowledge levels when it comes to the guides. So, RD began writing a guide training course back in 2008 and the course is now available to anyone in Canada or the US.

There are various levels of training available including a basic two day, classroom only program that deals almost completely with customer service, all the way to a three week program that covers… well, pretty much everything!
RD, along with several other qualified instructors will thoroughly cover modern fishing and hunting techniques (firearms and archery), outdoor cooking, mechanical training for outboard motors and four wheelers, Canada Firearms Training, practical shooting techniques and safe gun handling, GPS Certification, wilderness survival, hunting and fishing rules and regulations, boating safety and testing, Standard First Aid and CPR Training of course, MORE customer service training.

Each course is tailored to suit the needs of you, the customer. For example, if you are interested in having your guides trained at your lodge, but you do not offer hunting as a sporting vacation, then the firearms and hunting training would be removed from the curriculum. This would shorten the length of the program and reduce the cost.

RD has partnered with Confederation College in Thunder Bay, Ontario, so all graduates will receive a certificate from the college along with a personalized, “Certified Guide” photo ID card. Now that’s RUGGED!
