Fishing or Hunting Clients - Water Safety Tip

Insist your clients wear a PFD while on the water. They likely won’t want to wear one of those big, bulky floatation vests, but they likely wouldn’t mind wearing one of the inflatable types. They are comfortable and so small in comparison to the full vest type, that they will probably forget that they’re even wearing it! This way you can relax a bit knowing that your client is safe. Make sure to show them how to inflate the PFD by pulling the tab. Always carry a few extra CO2 cylinders with you… just in case!

You can get camouflage inflatable PFDs for your hunting clients, but double check the laws in your state or province to make sure they are legal. Some areas require the inflatable PFDs to be yellow or orange. Most are when inflated anyway. Also, check with the authorities in your area in case there is a minimum age requirement to wear an inflatable PFD. In Ontario, where I live, one must be at least 16 to wear one.
