It scares the crap out of me when I think that a high powered rifle like say, a 30-06 or a .270 can travel an easy three miles and still kill someone. I see people hunting deer with rifles on flat farm land all the time, but I wonder if the shooter realizes just how far the bullet can go, even if it hits a deer?

I love spicy food and I know a lot of other people do too. In fact, I like my wings so hot, that the morning after eating a pile of ‘em, I normally end up sitting on the toilet with my eyes closed tight, rocking back and forth slightly while biting down on a block of wood. But, somehow… it’s worth it! Don’t worry, though, this venison recipe isn’t all that hot. It’s just “warm.”

I was in my treestand for about 6 hours today and even though it really wasn’t all that cold for November 27, it sure was nice to get back to the house where the woodstove was still burning away, doing its job. It also made me feel like having some soup, some nice, thick and rich creamy soup. And… NO, I didn’t get a deer. Didn’t even see one!

I suppose it was my own damn fault! I mean what did I expect to happen if I was to go duck hunting with a guy who doesn’t really hunt very much. After all, he did tell me straight up that he normally only hunts ducks one or two days each season. Warning flag…

I’m not much on going to the hunting camp for two weeks with about five or six guys anymore. Been there, done that… I’m more of a solitary hunter these days. But, spending a week or two with a bunch of friends or family is a tradition that is hard to break for many people.
