It scares the crap out of me when I think that the bullet from a high powered rifle like say, a 30-06 or a .270 can travel an easy three miles and still kill someone. I see people hunting deer with rifles on flat farm land all the time, but I wonder if the shooter realizes just how far the bullet can go, even if it hits a deer?

About five years ago I stopped buying salsa and guacamole from the store. I make it myself for two reasons: The homemade stuff is way better and way cheaper! It’s also easy as hell and fun. And, nacho chips with fresh salsa and guacamole is the perfect snack to offer friends who are over for a drink or to tell you about their latest hunting story!

I absolutely love lamb! In my opinion, its flavour is something like venison, only a little milder. So, if you’ve never tried lamb, especially the rib section or “chops” as they’re sometimes called, and you like venison… you’ll totally drool over this one!

We are so spoiled these days when it comes to technology that is made for the fishing and hunting community. One of the most commonly used devices today, is of course, the GSP.

Global Positioning Systems can be unbelievably accurate and very useful. However, batteries die, signals fail and worse of all, that fancy-ass GPS won’t tell you that there’s a great big swamp a half mile ahead…

Go Easy on Those Lake Trout!

If you’re fishing in deep water for lake trout with either a downrigger or with jigs, try to bring the fish up to the surface slowly. If you bring a lake trout (or any fish) up too quickly, their swim bladder could expand too quickly and the fish will die. It’s the same idea as how a scuba diver must come to the surface slowly otherwise their lungs might pop. Ouch!
