Ogoki Frontier – Still Simply Amazing! Okay, close your eyes. Ah, c’mon, just do it. Nothing weird is gonna happen, I promise! Now, imagine you’re backing your vehicle up to a float plane dock on Mattice Lake, five miles south of Armstrong, Ontario.

I know that sounds cliché, even predictable in a story like this, but it’s true. Absolutely true! I remember Tim saying over and over with his classic British accent, “RD, this is brilliant!” And, Ken’s most commonly used line was “Holy sh** RD, I can’t friggin’ believe this place!” Also, on the trip, and the ‘eye behind the lens,’ was Adam Laidler, from Neebing, Ontario.

This recipe works great with any kind of fish, but salmon is the best, in my opinion. You could easily swap out the fish for shrimp, lobster or crab too. Most restaurants serve a red pepper sauce with their crab cakes and it’s really friggin’ good! But, for this salmon cakes recipe I came up with something a little different. And, who the hell doesn’t like lemon, honey and dill?

Ingredients

Cakes

6 ounces fresh salmon (canned salmon sucks, trust me, I tried it)

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t LOVE pizza… but, many people (me included) are tired of all the national pizza chains. After a while, they all seem to be the same.

I really love the little “Ma & Pa” places that make pizza the way it should be, the old way; rustic and delicious. Sadly, the private, family run pizza shops seem to be dying off for one reason or another. This is such a shame.

Sitting about 17 feet up in a tree sure gives me, the hunter, a great view. It also makes it a little less likely for the deer to notice me, smell me or hear me. And, when they’re coming in to the apples and corn I put there for them, they are distracted. This gives me a better chance to slowly reach for my bow or rifle and make my move. It also gives me a clear shot at very close range when the deer are relaxed and not expecting danger.

I love shrimp, especially fresh ones from the fish market. But, I also buy frozen shrimp at the grocery store. But, either way, I always keep the shells as they are full of flavour. I store them in the freezer and when I’m making a fish stock or some kind of seafood soup like a Manhattan chowder, out they come!

Any experienced chef or home cook knows how important is to clean up as you go. I personally could not cook if I didn’t have somewhere right beside me to put the garbage as I cook. Sometimes I’ll have an open garbage can right beside me. If I’m doing a big dinner for a lot of people, I’ll probably have a big empty box. I prefer something without a lid so I can simply toss the crap in there without having to open a lid, period.

There i saw a Bull moose so big I thought it was a Yukon Moose. Quick inquiries found that the ranch gave out only one tag per year to the State for a draw. I applied for 11 more years and even got a job with a Security Company doing security on the ranch. Then this year on April 30th, 2009 I got the Email that made me squeal like a little girl, "Successful - Bull Moose Deseret!!" I called the Ranch and got the answering service so I listened intently. Bull moose tags on Deseret sold for $11,500.00 and I got it on a state draw for $408.00.
